ABOUT THE FORUM: ACTIVATE 2012 is a 5-day forum about empowering youth to create positive change in their communities. It’s all about youth leadership and using sport, physical activity and recreation as a tool for personal and community development!  ACTIVATE is driven by enthusiasm, builds on shared positive experiences and spreads the spirit of sport, physical activity and recreation to result in active and healthy communities across Canada.

ACTIVATE is driven by youth for youth. ACTIVATE 2012 is organized and delivered by a group of volunteer youth leaders from all across Canada. The Youth Volunteer Organizing Committee is made up of eight ACTIVATORS who have participated as delegates in a previous ACTIVATE National Youth Leadership Forum.

ACTIVATE is proudly supported by the Government of Canada.

WHERE & WHEN: ACTIVATE 2012 will be held at Carleton University from May 9-13, 2012

COST: The registration fee to participate in this event is only $500.00 (to be paid upon confirmation of attendance). All other costs, including travel, accommodations and meal expenses are covered by Motivate Canada. If there is a need for financial assistance, selected applicants are asked to contact Motivate Canada directly for further suggestions.

WHAT TO EXPECT: Youth can expect to meet over 50 other enthusiastic young people from across Canada; experience interactive workshops presented by guest speakers and led by other youth; and experience some physical activities!  ACTIVATORS will leave the forum with increased skills, increased confidence, a greater network of friends, resources/tools, an action plan and a greater understanding of themselves as leaders.  To find out more about what happened last year, click here.

ELIGIBILITY: In order to be eligible to attend the ACTIVATE 2012 Forum youth must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada, between the ages of 16 and 22 (by March 31, 2012).

Not everyone who applied is guaranteed to be selected to attend. We are limited to 50 participants; therefore, we will select youth on the basis of ensuring equal representation from all across Canada. The delegation will represent gender balance, diverse backgrounds and a range of abilities, opinions and experiences.
