Call for organizations to be featured at the ACTIVATE North Networking Forum and Dinner!
Motivate Canada and the youth volunteer organizing committee of the ACTIVATE North Aboriginal Youth Leadership invite organizations to attend ACTIVATE North by participating in the ACTIVATORS Networking Forum and Dinner (at no cost) on Friday March 26, 2010.
"In the North, youth are affected differently than anywhere else in Canada when it comes to social conditions. Going to ACTIVATE, I learned many skills that enabled me to run small projects in my community. If in every community, at least one youth goes to ACTIVATE North, many youth will live happier."
Thomassie Johnston
Regional Youth Coordinator, Qikiqtani Youth Association
Iqaluit, Nunavut
Like-minded Aboriginal youth from the northern territories will come together to share their ideas on youth leadership and how to make a positive difference in their communities through sport, physical activity, and recreational initiatives.
ACTIVATE North engages Aboriginal youth in creating positive change in their communities! It also explores the need for youth-driven development and helps young people develop relationships, support, tools, and plans that they need in order to gain meaningful experience and make some positive changes in their communities.
ACTIVATE North was created based on the principles of the ACTIVATE National Youth Leadership Conference which is held each spring in Ottawa, ON. ACTIVATE North encompasses the same youth for youth philosophy as the national conference and is customized to meet the needs and interests of Aboriginal youth in the north.
The goal of ACTIVATE North is to provide First Nation, Inuit and Métis youth from the territories with a forum to voice their ideas and opinions in a safe youth friendly environment while providing them with the skills and resources to contribute to their communities in a meaningful way through sport and physical activity as ACTIVATORS.
Youth who attend this conference will connect with up to 42 other passionate youth from the Yukon, Nunavut and the Northwest Territories. It's not just about talking…it's about youth-driven development and making a difference in your community when you get home!
