ACTIVATE 2010 provides up to 50 youth from all across Canada with a forum to voice their ideas and opinions in a safe, youth friendly environment while providing them with the skills, resources and motivation to contribute to their communities in a meaningful way through sport, physical activity and recreation - as ACTIVATORS.
ACTIVATE 2010 is a 5-day conference about empowering youth to create positive change in their communities. It’s all about youth leadership and using sport, physical activity and recreation as a tool for personal and community development! The conference is driven by enthusiasm, builds on shared positive experiences and spreads the spirit of sport, physical activity and recreation to result in active and healthy communities across Canada.
The ACTIVATE National Youth Leadership Conference is driven by youth for youth. ACTIVATE 2010 is organized and delivered by a group of volunteer youth leaders from all across Canada. The Youth Volunteer Organizing Committee is made up of eight ACTIVATORS who have participated as delegates in a previous ACTIVATE National Youth Leadership Conference. These youth leaders are selected to volunteer with Motivate Canada and continue their involvement with the ACTIVATE program as advisors for the organization and peer mentors for conference delegates.
Not everyone who applies is guaranteed to be selected to attend. We are limited to 50 participants; therefore, we will select youth on the basis of ensuring equal representation from all across Canada. The delegation will represent gender balance, diverse backgrounds and a range of abilities, opinions and experiences.
The registration fee to participate in this event is only $400.00 (to be paid upon confirmation of attendance). All other costs, including travel, accommodations and meal expenses are covered.
Applicants will be notified of their application status via e-mail (from activate@motivatecanada.ca) after February 22, 2010.
